With all of these Agnes tents under $300 I’m very intrigued. 6’4” so length it’s important. I see pros and cons to bike packing specific and normal backpacking tents. This will be my first one but I want the space to stretch out and maybe have a friend come every now and then. Any personal experience/ recommendations before these sell out and I miss out? Or if none are recommended is a 3 person worth the room for an extra pound? If none and get 2 person is the bike packing version worth at this sale $100 more? If not I’ll gladly buy the sub $200 normal hotel

I am in Alaska so the large vestibule for keeping gear dry is a huge plus for the hotel

I have this tent (3 person) for car camping and it’s great but very heavy and packs up pretty large. Vestibule alone has more space than my bikepacking tent.

But follow your heart! It’s a palace and super sturdy and is fun in the snow and rain.

  3. I say go with the lightest tent you can handle/afford. Simply because light tents, in addition to being light, also pack small.

  4. We purchased the 3 person version last year and have used it motorcycle camping. The short poles are nice – easier to pack for sure. And it is heavy, but that’s not a huge deal if there are two of us.

The vestibule is great. We had to set up in the rain and the vestibule was great for stowing our wet rain gear. It’s pretty easy to set up but it is another step. And ceiling height is short – lots of crouching to get in and out on that side.

What is a bit off-putting is that the footprint is super big, really limiting where you can set it up. We’ve been to campgrounds that had a square gravel platform for tents and the 3 person barely fit. The size might be challenging when trying to stealth camp. And you kind of always have to set up the vestibule, which adds a little time.

Where we to do it again, we’d probably look for a tent with a regular rainfly and an optional vestibule to provie more flexibility.
