These Bontrager xr2 comp's came with the bike but aren't sold here, If these are 29×2.20", Does the replacement need to be an exact match or just in a small range? E.g 2.25
2.25 should be fine, assuming your bike is a Trek, max tire size listed under the bike’s specs on their website.

It can be anything you like. 2.1 or higher is what I like.

It can still run for a while, but would need replacement in a hundred or few hundred kms probably.
You can opt for the same size, or either 2.10 or 2.15 since some tires have different knobs and could probably hit your frame. Check the tire limits for your bike’s model.
