Traffic circle not a roundabout, used for traffic calming
BunnyEruption on
I think in some places maybe traffic circles always get marked like all way stops (maybe they’re required to under state law?) although I do think that’s somewhat more confusing then having special marking indicating that they’re a traffic circle?
I guess since they’re small enough that presumably only one car can be in the traffic circle at a time, they may effectively function equivalently to all way stops in terms of who has the right of way when, though, so I assume that’s the logic behind it.
I actually like these a lot since they seem to work really well for traffic calming without drivers getting confused or some other issues with larger roundabouts in the US (I know theoretically roundabouts are supposed to be good but in practice they way they are designed or operate in the us seems to feel extremely dangerous for cyclists/pedestrians).

It’s in Orlando, I see them everywhere

We have them all over the place in Seattle, although typically just the more minor road has stop signs. They are traffic circles, not roundabouts. They are too small for larger vehicles to turn left around them properly. I actually kind of like them. They slow traffic and deter people from using neighborhoods as through streets. When they are on designated bike routes the other road almost always has the stop, which is really nice, although not everyone is great at respecting that.
I much prefer them to uncontrolled intersection which are also pretty common in neighborhoods around here. People from other areas don’t realize that nobody has a stop/yield and will blow through the intersection.

A dumb one. We have a few where I live, and the stop signs are unneeded.

A “chicane” maybe?

As others have pointed out it’s a traffic circle. For truly stupid roundabout design come to [Portland!](https://www.google.com/maps/@45.5259457,-122.6229729,3a,75y,1.32h,84.77t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s7OsNCxdgd_bmT4wvfqXY4Q!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D5.232970989232854%26panoid%3D7OsNCxdgd_bmT4wvfqXY4Q%26yaw%3D1.3200106749470706!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDIyNS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) We also have traffic circles everywhere. They kind of help although the reduced visibility can be problematic. Especially when people use them to make an illegal u-turn.
Uhh stupidity
I hate 4 way stops, and I hate stop signs.
We use them so much that people rightfully ignore them after realizing a full stop is unnecessary
This of course becomes a problem for the few intersections that do need them
It’s called the worst of both worlds.
