Starting out with a broken saddle clamp and ending in a pub with a whole lot of random waffle in between! My first ride outside in Leeds this year, featuring Woodrup Cycles on Kirkstall Road, Paria Cafe in Chapel Allerton, North Bar on Briggate and for an unusual appearance, THE SUN and my bare legs πŸ˜†πŸ˜Žβ˜€οΈ

Thanks for coming along for the ride 🫢🏻

  1. Lol I grew up in Headingley & biked everywhere since I was a kid, so that was quite the nostalgia trip. Used to head out Otley way for fun rides, good mix of up, down & flat. Beryl Burton was still riding when I started, you could catch her out Wetherby way training often & try hang on her wheel. Not successfully tho πŸ˜‚

  2. Nice one Amy! Reminds me of when a pot hole conveniently destroyed the carbon seat post on my Canyon Ultimate and had to cycle back standing up, my quads were killing me when I got back! how are you finding being away from Cornwall? Interesting comments on the 3T, was considering a 1by Exploro as my do it all bike (and fitting a front derailleur….).

  3. Funny how that bright light in the sky, whatever it's called, seems to be part a sunny disposition on you. πŸ€”πŸ˜ŽπŸ™ƒ (Springtime should suit you nicely.)

  4. Well I certainly haven't felt it's been shorts weather yet, got out yesterday morning as it was going to be mad windy today. As my route was going past one of my regular cafe stops thought it be rude not to stop for coffee and cake, I'd probably done about four miles, I did carry on after that. At least Reilly was an easy fix.

  5. It was a lovely day & I cycled some of the same route a bit earlier in the day. Certainly saw plenty of other cyclists inc. some on gravel bikes – yay!. Quite a change in the weather today (Sunday).

  6. shorts out already, thats very northern πŸ˜„ tbf the weather you had did look cracking, whilst its still windy, grey, overcast and dull down south, so its not quite suns out, guns out weather yet for me πŸ‘

  7. Back when i lived just outside Leeds City Centre I used to walk down where the bridge you cross the canal is now. It was definitely not navigable by bike, in fact it was barely navigable ob foot when the vegetation got high.

  8. Hi πŸ‘‹πŸ» Amy, great to see you out enjoying yourself again! Looking forward to the next adventure! πŸ‘ŒπŸ€©πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ

  9. Great video. I did my first ride of the year on Saturday, and as i was meeting a mate i drove to Kirkstall late morning and parked my car about 100 yards from Woodrup's. Our route took us to Castleford and we took in RSPB St Aidans & RSBB Fairburn Ings (which you should definitely try) and then headed back into town down the canal the same way you did.
The Otley run is a great laugh but i'd guess its been a good 20 or 30 years since i did it last
