It’s been decades since I last cycled across the suspension bridge from England to Wales so when a sunny day came up, I figured why not? I caught the train to Bristol Parkway and rode to Chepstow Castle in Wales before heading back to Bristol.

Fab video hun very inspirational I am slowly getting back into cycling loving your videos thanks for sharing π
Chepstow Castle was built by the Normans just after they arrived in 1066. As such, it was built to conquer and subdue the Welsh, not βto keep the English out.β π
Canβt wait for you to try some routes a bit further north – Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Malvern, etc – I might have a chance to bump into you then! Iβd buy you lunch as a thank you for your videos ππ
England = Lloegr (Welsh)
On my local roads so interesting to hear your thoughts. Pretty well could recognise all of it and nearly passed my house!. By coincidence i did a CTC ride from blaise castle up to Berkeley on Saturday, passed through the Warehouse complex (very odd) and severn beach. Lots of cyclists out as first warm, sunny day for a long time and it does give you a boost.
Past Chepstow you can carry on to Tintern abbey which is a popular cycling stop. Lots of cafes.
Just seen your channel, I shall work my way through your videos, especially your Normandy ones as I have a trip planned for the DDay commemorations. Best bit is your riding the same bike as I have, itβs great ππππRide safe π΄ββοΈ
So glad you went with the day before the wind and rain Kit! The roads and towns were probably made busier because of the fab weather and last couple of days of half term. Loved the video and the sung comments! I think you're totally right about this winter and particularly this past couple of weeks. Thanks for cheering us up! X
Such a shame you didnβt venture up the Wye Valley, Monmouth bound. Much nicer roads. You also found Doggers Alley – the section on the Bristol side, nr the bridge. ππ
Great vid, nice to see you on roads local to me. And apologies, I was probably driving one of those cars disturbing you! I loaded the bike in the car and parked up to ride round the lanes just north of the bridge. As you found out itβs not the most restful routes riding out of Bristol.
As you thought, the bridge was closed today, still closed as I type this in fact.
Iβm with you re the Warburtons crumpets π
Done that route many times from Yate using side roads and taking back road to Tintern > Nice vidieo
Just wondering why don't you use a dedicated cycle computer, I also take my mobile but that's in the back pocket. Battery life on mobiles not the best.
Hi. This is my neck of the woods. I agree with you. Your route took you through the worst cycle paths ever designed! But at least they tried. Avonmouth is full of trucks and I avoid alike the plague! Temple meads may be better for you? Cycling down the Portway under the Clifton suspension bridge is great and you can then go through Blaise Hallen and across to the bridge via quiet country lanes. If you want more information let me know Iβll send a route. The Wye Valley is stunning. So worth a couple of days holiday.
I used to do that 2 or 3 times per week, cycling from Newport to Almondsbury and back again, through Olveston and Tockington. The westerly wind on the return leg was sometimes brutal.
