First off I am a total beginner at this sport. I want to upgrade to tubeless and learn to do it myself rather than bring it to the shop.
I took the tires off and noticed that tape/strip already on the rim. Do I need to add my own tape over that red strip? I attached images of what I'm working with.

Looks like it’s already taped and good to go. No need to add your own tape
Looks like a wtb ‘solid strip’ with some tubeless tape on top so should be fine as it is.

Hmmm, if you read the description of that ‘solid strip’ tape, it says that tubeless tape should be applied as a 2nd layer.
