Currently fitting a Shimano Claris R2000 2×8 braze on front derailleur to an old specialized road bike. No support Plate came with the mech and after googling there seems to be a lot of 50/50 advice in terms of screwing the support bolt to touch the frame or not? The reason only for the support bolt to improve your mechs performance seems silly not to use it. However, I can't believe there's going to be enough room for a support Plate to fit… I've attached photos… am I along the right lines with all this?
