Just noticed this uneven wear on my rear pads. It looks like the pad doesn't sit all the way down on the rotor.
I bought the bike used.
Will buy replacement pads but I guess it will happen again..
Any ideas on how to prevent this?

Check your caliper adapter is a) the correct one for your rotor size, b) in the correct orientation
Looks like you’re completely off one brake size… like you have a 160mm rotor but caliper is mounted at 180mm. Or a 180mm rotor with a caliper mounted at 200mm, etc.
So you either need to buy a larger rotor or, if the brake caliper has an adapter attached to it, you can remove the adapter which should lower the caliper/pads to the correct height for the rotor.
Is this happening in the front or rear or both? What is the make/model of the bike and fork? Post pictures of the caliper and rotor if you can.
