The part of the caliper arm that connects to the brake cable was bent forward in a crash. Is this too damaged to continue safely using? They function fine otherwise. It's a dia-compe 400 from the 80's.

Personally I’d replace it. But on the other hand, it probably would be fairly easy to bend it back into shape.
Probably not a big deal but I‘d replace it, those breaks are cheap and it‘s an easy fix. Don‘t try to bend it back, it‘s going to snap.
