Due to the combo of no lugs, threaded headset, & v brakes I’d say late 90s touring or hybrid (ie 5xx or 7xx). Some more detailed pics of the dropouts, components, and any other markings would help ID it.
The steel bikes built in Asia were the 800 series. Only the 830 started having triple top tube cable in 1991. The 850 in 1992. I am not sure if the cheaper bikes used Trek dropouts.
The 900 series bikes were built in the USA, but they were lugged until 1995.

The brakes are not likely original. You have a canti brake hanger on your headset.

That logo on the head tube was dropped in 1997
