I’m looking at purchasing a mountain bike for the summer, and I’ve heard only good things about Devinci bikes. Currently, Devinci has a sale on the Django NX, and after speaking with my local bike shop, they’re able to knock a few bucks additional off as well. As a plus, being Canadian, I’d also be supporting a local brand.
I’m located in Sudbury, Ontario, so we’ve got some pretty hilly terrain full of outcrop. I want to learn what I can – from drops to climbs, maneuverability, smaller and modest jumps, etc.
I’d likely want to upgrade components on the bike as I progress in my experience, rather than replacing the bike altogether, although I’m sure sometime down the road I will.
Here is the bike and the specs. In your opinion, is this a good all-round first full suspension mountain bike, that won’t restrict me if I want to progress to more difficult trails and alternating terrain? Or should I consider something else (the Giant Stance 29 is another bike idea thrown my way).
And a bonus question: what would I upgrade first?

Looks like a good bike decent components I prefer paying for fox over rockshok but that’s just me fox rides much smother, decent bike altogether
Solid first bike. All name brand components. Hydraulic brakes. Dropper. It’ll be great and you can upgrade later if you want.
NX is garbage. Those guide brakes are gonna need consistent bleeds
Is the Deore version available? Way better value vs. NX, and a clutch switch on dérailleur.
That bike will be good for a first bike.
I wouldn’t look to upgrade anything other than contact points (pedals, grips and saddle) until things start to break or wear out.
With that being said the things you will eventually want to upgrade are the drive train. The NX derailleur is not terrible but not great. SX shifter will be cheap but you can swap a shifter for a cheap cost.
The brakes would be upgraded eventually but that’s a personal preference for me. Guides are not terrible but not the best. Good enough to get you going while you learn.
I am a big Giant fanboy and I will choose this bike over the Stance tbh. I have ridden a couple Devinci and they ride well unfortunately the Django is not built in Chicoutimi so not one of their made in Canada frames.

Devinci make fantastic bikes – components look ok. I’d say this would be a great first mountain bike and it will last you a very long time

Get it! I have a Devinci Marshall, their frames are rock solid (made in Canada) and worth upgrading IMO. Solid investment. Get the Deore version though.
I ride a carbon Django NX and I couldn’t recommend it enough. Awesome bike all around. I say do it!
