  1. Ain’t normal if u ask me, mine sits flush. Give it a few whacks until it sits flush. Or visit a bike shop. Whichever is faster for you.

    That upper cup doesn’t look fully pressed in properly to me. Manufacturers don’t tend to finish frames very well (or at all) so getting the headtube reamed and headset pressed in again might be an idea. That’s going to end up creaking at some point, or causing premature wear to the bearings.

    This isn’t just a MTB thing, road frames often have bad tolerances too.
