Debated whether to get a Domane or FX Sport 6 as my first carbon bike, but after riding both I felt the FX to be more comfortable for my 58 year old back and riding style (I’m not a racer but I like to ride fast solo.) Also, the FX seemed to be a better value with carbon wheels, wireless shifting, 21 lbs, for $3k US. Comparable Domane would be significantly more.

Maiden voyage was a 63 mile ride up and down the San Gabriel bike path in Los Angeles. Mostly flat with drops below overpasses. I had not ridden more than 40 miles in the last 10 years so I was wary of what I was getting into. The FX performed flawlessly. Smooth, balanced ride, comfortable position (I’m 5’7” on M frame), minimal hand fatigue on the grips. The wireless shifting was amazing. Quick, precise, quiet. Can’t see going back to mechanical now. The only downside was the saddle which started hurting my rear after 30 miles and was burning after 40. My fault— I should’ve worn my padded shorts for this ride but didn’t. Bottom line: really impressed and would recommend if it fits your riding style.
