So I ride XC and woodland trail, I’ve ordered a pair of Sutro Photochromic to replace my old Half Jacket 2 XL with Prizm Road Jade, will the Photochromatic lens do for bright sunlight? If not, what is the recommended lens to use as an alternative for riding in the open (no tree cover) on bright sunny days? Prizm Road Black, Jade, Sapphire, 24K, Black Iridium, polarizing maybe or something else? Going for a tech, functional look.

I’ve got this exact model with the photochromic lens. It’s category 2, which means it struggles on the brightest of days.
You need a category 3 lens, which means it allows lower level of light transmission (less eye strain). So perfect for me all year round (photochromatic), except for summer (use Prisim).

They’re 23% Vlt activated, so not really enough for bright sunny days, unless you like squinting. 10% is the usual sort of transmission for bright sunlight, road black or jade.. or most lenses really.

Sapphire is dark enough for me in bright sunlight.
