Using a derailleur originally designed to hang from a claw, bolted straight on instead. Long term viability?

Swiped this off a much older bike, originally mounted claw style through the dropout but the frame I’m building on has a hanger instead. The top pulley is never all that close to the freewheel (pictured is smallest gear on smallest chain ring) but it friction shifts just fine and feels no different than a normal setup. Has anyone else used a claw derailleur like this and have any suggestions? It does have a b limit screw I could try adjusting but it seems alright for now
