The aerofairings have been printed, trimmed and installed. I added thin, double sided tape to the inner radius. A 1mm gap was accounted for in the design to accommodate this tape. Then filament tape around the entire assembly. So far l've only used them on the smart trainer and they are quite strong. The original round bar acts as the main structural element with extra surface area available when the hands are behind the hoods.I run a 110mm stem and my knees have plenty of room when standing up. I may also experiment with silicone, self vulcanizing tape instead of the thick, Fizik tape. The true test will be out on the road where there are lots of impact opportunities. Sorry if I have little time to reply to messages. I have a full time job, a small family, and build gravel and randonneuring bikes, including wheel sets, as a hobby. I'Il report again after some outdoor testing.

  1. Why for comfort? If it is for aero…. not going to help much from the looks of the bike, not that it is bad, nothing else is aero that I can tell

  2. It was a bad idea two months ago, it’s still a bad idea. There’s no way this holds up to outdoor riding or provides enough of an aero benefit to be worth the risk of failure.

    Kudos for staying committed to the bit, though.

  3. Hmm. According to my fag paper aerodynamics calculations, the handlebar aerofairings will offer a reduction in aerodynamic drag at…. 70 kph and over.

People are weirdly afraid of these things, but I think it is also the crowd that is racing and expects to crash on occasion due to aggressive drafting but those around them, so they may have heightened awareness of some issues. To me, riding solo and passing cautiously, this would provide little risk or benefit.
