I love the old school simplicity. Real bikes. I have a set of new Microshift downtube shifters, they’re so buttery it’s hard to justify an upgrade.

People seem to forget there are people who actually want to use parts on bikes not just hoard and don’t have an abundant local supply like in the northern hemisphere

As someone who’s new to bikes, how do friction shifters work when compared to regular shifters? Is it just they don’t have the indents for the individual gears? Also, I’ve heard they’re terrible for hub gears like the Sturmey Archer. Is this true?

This is from a suburban party where instead of car keys, everyone puts their friction shifters in a bowl to pick whose spouse they swap with for the night. Either that or they bike home in high gear.
