Gorilla tape is a pain to remove. If it’s holding air, I’d leave it on there.

I’d get it over with and use normal rim tape from now on 😉

The reason why I’m doing this is because this rim always leaked air around the valve stem. I just want to start fresh and see if it was the valve stem o ring that was failed. When I removed the old valve stem, I saw corroded/damaged rubber.

Gorilla tape makes for poor rim tape. I would remove it and replace it with something better.

Never use gorilla tape. Try to get the tape residue off is going to be a bitch. Try muc-off tape in the future.

If you’ve already got the residue off, good for you, if not then a good rag and isopropyl will make short work with some elbow grease.

I would use DT swiss tape over Stan’s. Stan’s isn’t very sticky and is hard to get seated properly. DT swiss is way easier to use

Have fun. You’re about to learn why Gorilla Tape is a bad idea for rim tape.
(It holds, but it’s heavy, absorbant, and hell to remove. And it’s completely unnecessary.)

If you’ve got stans it won’t do any harm.
