Upgraded my handlebars today to the redshift 50mm top shelf on an already very angled stem!
Definitely needed a wider bar and have always felt I could go a bit higher for a less pressure on hands. First time doing taping and all that stuff – gonna give it a ride tomorrow and if I’m happy with the position of the brakes etc will use the new tape I bought to do a tidier job…
Know it probably looks horrible to most of you but as long as it’s comfortable for long rides I’m cool with it 🙂

this makes me angry just looking at it.
jk, it’s your bike and your comfort is what’s important.
No it’s kinda cool
You do what works for you, but I think you bought the wrong bike for what you want in a bike.
If it fits you should sits (or ride).
I’m far from an expert, but it looks like that stem is going to handle super twitchy. Makes me think that the bike size is off.
Won’t that defeats the purpose of the suspension though?
Also, are you running a carbon fork? That’s a whole lotta steerer tube.
At least you’ll get to Valhalla with no back pain.
Here I am griping that my Topstone is too upright.
You’re approaching /r/xbiking territory
Is the Redshift stem supposed to be adjustable, or have you over tightened the pivot bolt to get it to lock up like that?
bro building optimus prime.
OP: Am I going to hell for this?
Me: No, but BCJ for sure
I weigh like 145 lbs soaking wet and I wouldn’t even trust leaning forward on that while riding, looks super unsafe
You’ve spent at least half of a smaller frame already!
Your bike is too small for you that is pretty obvious.
Possibly. Please report back.
Your drops are higher than my bar top position. That would be horribly uncomfortable for me, but it isn’t my bike. Good if it works for you.
I think you should consider flat bars with bar ends.
No, you have created your own hell with this stem
Depends, is the steerer tube made of carbon?
Your bike is like 2 sizes too small
I don’t understand what is going on here.
If it feels good and you’re happy with it it doesn’t matter what people think about the look.
I have put a Jones H Loop bar on my bike with an already angled up stem as well. Tbh I don’t like how my bike looks like now but it feels so much better and I enjoy riding on the bike much more. In the end that’s what counts.
As someone partially sponsored by Redshift, I’m reporting you.
Yes.
You should of just flipped the og drop bars upside down lol
As a tall cyclist who bemoans bikes with low stack heights, I feel your pain. BUT you are riding the edge of what’s safe and maintainable with that much leverage on your steerer tube. If it is a carbon steerer you’re probably doing harm to things in there.
It’s darn hot in here!
I had the same bike and almost did something similar, instead I sold the bike for 50€ more then I bought it for and bought something that fit me.
I think that one raising product is fine most of the time, but this is a bit much
Can we change the saying to “going to hell in a front basket”?
What’s the name of your bar? I like this alt-looking double section in the middle. Reminds me of me beloved Surly Moloko 😎
Pretty sure you’re too uncool to even get in there.
