Scott Aspect 720

Scott Genius 60

Trek 4300 (don't really like the color)

Hey everyone! I really need your help choosing a second-hand bike. I love bikes, but the one I have now is absolute garbage—super old, the brakes barely work, and every time I pedal, it gets stuck. So yeah, I definitely need an upgrade.

I ride fast in the city, cutting through traffic, hopping curbs, and sometimes going over rougher terrain. I need good brakes, decent suspension, and a durable frame since I’ll be riding daily. The problem is that I don’t know much about bike components—just the basics—so I’m not sure what’s the best choice.

I found three bikes and I’ll attach photos. Here’s a breakdown of each one:

1. Scott Aspect 720 (€295, very good condition)

  • Wheel size: 27.5"
  • Brakes: Shimano hydraulic disc
  • Suspension: Front suspension (100mm travel, lockout)
  • Frame: Aluminum
  • Drivetrain: Shimano Deore, 30-speed

✔ Seems like a solid, modern bike with strong brakes and a good suspension.

2. Scott Genius 60 (€299, decent condition)

  • Wheel size: 27.5"
  • Brakes: Probably mechanical or hydraulic disc (not sure)
  • Suspension: Full suspension (front & rear)
  • Frame: Aluminum
  • Drivetrain: Likely 3×9

✔ Very comfortable on rough terrain.
❌ Heavy, full suspension might not be ideal for city riding, more maintenance.

Weird thing: I checked the price on Bicycle Blue Book, and it says this bike should be worth €450 second-hand, but it’s only €299. Could this be an amazing deal, or is something wrong with it?

3. Trek 4300 (€220, very good condition)

  • Wheel size: 26"
  • Brakes: Disc brakes (not sure if mechanical or hydraulic)
  • Suspension: Basic front suspension
  • Frame: Aluminum
  • Drivetrain: Likely 3×8 or 3×9

✔ The cheapest option, lightweight.
❌ 26” wheels feel outdated, suspension isn’t as good as the Aspect 720.

What I’m thinking:

  • The Scott Genius 60 is tempting because of the price difference on Bicycle Blue Book, but I’m not sure if it’s actually a good choice for city riding.
  • The Trek 4300 is cheap, but the 26” wheels make me hesitate and don't like much the colors.
  • The Scott Aspect 720 seems like the best choice overall.

Would you agree that the Scott Aspect 720 is the best option? Or is the Trek 4300 still a good buy despite the 26” wheels? Also, is the Scott Genius 60 a steal at that price, or could there be hidden issues?

None of the 3 is appropriate for commuting.
You don’t need suspension to commute in the city. It’s just extra weight that you have to propel around. These bikes also don’t have fenders and racks.
