Seller is asking $400 for this bike. I don't know much about it. Just looking for something to commute on. Any insight you guys might have would be much appreciated.

Too expensive, 100-150$ max
I sold my Lemonde Alpe D’Huez for $300 in 2016. You could probably go lower.
Too much unless you are really jonesing for that specific bike for some reason.
If it had a full service recently and needs nothing other than your butt in the seat, $250-300. If it needs cables, adjusting, tires, pads, tape, etc, I agree $150 is more like it.
I have the same year Malliot Jaune and I love it. It’s a great feeling bike. You’ll love it if you get it.
I paid $475 for a 1999 Zurich, but it was all steel (853) and had a full Dura Ace group.
I would value the hybrid carbon frame lower than 100% steel. Can’t see what components are on it other than the MTB derailleur but works assume they are less valuable than DA.
On the other hand, any old bike, as long as it is functional, is worth $100-$150 in my area so I’d say the other commenters are too low. $250-$350 seems fair to me. Ultimately, any price is a good price if you are willing to pay it and the seller is willing to accept it. In a year, an extra $100 or whatever is not going to matter and you will have a cool bike.
