Ok, I need some help trying to figure out how I can go 1x grx without sacrificing too much of what I have on my big ring currently. I know that I can’t completely get a 1x that will allow me to have all my current gears. Is there a ratio that comes close? I’m looking for a mid-tear 1x grx setup. I want to put these big 77x45c tires on because they are sexy but my current set up doesn’t allow me to get into my big ring without rubbing my front derailleur. Any and all help would be welcomed.

Also, for context as well, I need to ride 10-15 miles on road out of the city to actually hit gravel. I live in the Midwest so I’m not getting to crazy with elevation (there is some out in the country) and I just love leaving my doorstep and getting out there without driving. So again, if anyone can break it down for your boy and help with some recommendations I would be so grateful and more confident in making my purchase. Thanks so much! ❤️❤️❤️

  1. Look at SRAM Apex 1×11 mechanical. If you buy new components you’re looking around 400-500 investment. I did that on a bike running Sora and I love it.

You’re positive that your proposed tires wont fit, could it be a dishing issue? I have the S3 and run 700×50 with the stock 2x groupset. Our trim levels have different groupsets so maybe there really is a problem, idk.

I think what you will find once you start researching specific options is the price just doesn’t make sense for what you have and what you’re trying to accomplish- a few mm bigger tires. You could potentially build up a 650b wheelset with used parts that offer more tire clearance and would let you keep your gear range. That seems like the better route if I was in your situation.
