Bike: Trek Domane AL2 2023
The cage screw is loose but stuck. You try to unscrew it and it just goes round and round endlessly. Have tried wd40, tried forcing it out with pliers. My LBS is reluctant to commit as it might damage the frame.
Any advice here will gladly appreciated.

Happens a lot with trek bikes. At the shop I used to work in we had a specific tool to remove the bolt and snapped rivet and then rivet in a new thread into the frame.
Phone round a few more shops, maybe try a few Trek specific dealers.
Yeah you need professional help… Sounds like a loose rivnut. You need a riv nut tool and you to extract the old riv nut without damaging the frame.
I have the exact same Tr*k, and the same thing happened in the exact same spot, hahaha! I just bought a mini cordless rotary tool, cut off the bolt and rivet. The other part of the bolt fell off in the frame. I took it out by removing the fork, then put the fork back… Next step – replaced the rivet with a new one using a special hand rivet gun. Both tools cost ~ $50 on Amazon and 20-30mins of your time. You can find many videos on YouTube on how to do that.
