Might be slightly heavier but might provide better protection. If you don’t care about the weight then go for it.
I ended up buying knee protectors that are suited for motorbikes. It’s a bit on the heavier side and slightly hinders pedalling movements but is a very sturdy build.

I think it’s an overkill. I just have an “Alpinestar Bionic Pro,” and it’s good enough. I don’t crash a lot, just really minor ones, thanks God, so I can’t really say if it’s effective but it doesn’t hinder my movement. It’s sturdy enough and I feel protected.
