Wanted to make the post that I was searching for, before I decided to just bite the bullet and find out.
I contemplated for a long time if I my 1979 puch racing bike with a 38mm tyre in the front and 35 semi-slick in the back (with next to no clearance) would even be able to tackle the rough terrain of the Green-divide.
Having now finished the ~300km of deep sand, gravel, forest tracks and mud I can say I’m very glad I choose to find out for myself.
Yes It definitely got sketchy at points and I for sure had to be more cautious on the tougher descents but it’s endlessly fun to be navigating through varied terrain carefully picking the best line.
