I picked up a Saris H3 and got my local bike store to mount a cassette on it, along with a spacer. I'm using my Domane AL 2, which uses and 8-speed cassette.

I set everything up as per the manual and got going. During my first ride when I shifted into the highest ring there was a fairly obvious grinding noise. Looking down I noticed that the cassette had a pretty substantial wobble to it (see video).

Looking this up online I've seen answers from "you need a different sized spacer" to "cassettes sometimes just do that, you're fine"… Looking for suggestions on how to fix this one.

  1. Same issue to my cervelo R5 and it is because of the broken bearings on the freehub which makes the grinding, wobbling cassette. I see your video that your freehub is loose or almost to fall off resulting to its wobbly cassette, try to take the wheel off the bike and push the cassette inward and observe if it’s attached on the wheel

  2. Just a guess but that cassette is not meant to be on that freehub. Looks like an 8spd cassette on probably an 11/12 spd body and its not actually torqued down. There’s a ton of space behind the cassette.
