i’m a fairly newbie biker and have been roading my old mtb on the road for around 30-40 km daily.
Found this deal listed as trek DOM4-RD carbon shimano tiagra around 460$ USD. I don’t know much about bikes but this seems like a good deal for what i’ve read. Should i pull the trigger? i’ve been eyeing the triban RC500.

This is a carbon Trek Domane from around 2012-2013 or so. The groupset would be the older Tiagra 4600 2×10-speed.
The Isospeed seat-tube decoupler on that Domane does give the bike a softer ride compared to a rigid-frame bike like the Triban RC500. The one shortcoming with that Domane is that a rim-brake bike like that cannot accept wider tires. It can fit 25mm tires, 28mm is iffy.
$460 is a fair price if the bike is in good condition. You need to make sure that bike’s carbon frame hasn’t been crashed or had anything happen to it that gouged the carbon fiber.
Nah. Old as dirt. 300 tops, and that’s only because it’s carbon — and you need to ask if it’s been wrecked, and if there’s damage to the carbon. Carbon is light yes but it is very susceptible to damage and that can become catastrophic and or expensive to repair.
Tiagra was “ok” then. If it was 105+ group I might give 350. Wheels on that bike or nothing special either.
Unless it has new components and/or practically no miles/wear and tear. And I can tell you they don’t make those shifters anymore. So those aren’t new. If you get a good price, you could replace them with Sensah when they go bad. Those are decent and very affordable if you buy them on AliExpress. I’ve got about 7000 miles on a pair of mine that are on my 2010 AL road bike. Good luck!
No. Old tiagra is an automatic no.
