Cycle Days 11, 12 and 13, from the Lechstausee to the Lermoos basin, three nights of tenting along the Via Claudia Augusta cycle route. Starting from our campground on the Lechstausee, we ride through lovely meadows, then along the Forgensee and reach the popular tourist town of Fussen, with views of the Alps getting clearer now. We have a lovely “rest day” in Fussen and explore the famous castles. An encounter with a fox adds some drama! Our friends Sarah and Andrew join us in Fussen.
The ride continues, our group of five now crossing the border into Tyrol, Austria where we explore the suspension bridge and Ehrenberg Castle complex south of Reutte before enjoying the stunning scenery as we approach the Lermoos Basin and some spectacular mountains, including Germany’s highest – Zugspitze. Day 13 ends at a campground in Biberwier just at the foot of the Fern Pass.

Ride segments:
Lechstausee to Fussen 30 km
Fussen to Biberwier 50 km, 700m elevation gain

  1. Beautiful, I look forward to every new episode and thank you for all the detailed narration. I was wondering what you do with your bikes and gear when you're out and about exploring on foot?

  2. I really enjoy your videos. In 2023, at the age of 64, I spent 6 weeks riding in Western Europe. I hope to return either this year or next.
    You're giving me some ideas!
