I found this bike on Facebook marketplace for $100. The guy had no idea what he had and I could only tell it was a Serotta from a single blurry picture of the rear brake bridge. I picked it up and restored the frame/fork, brazed new cable stops on the top tube, and added water bottle mounts on the seat tube. My 30-y/o retro-grouch buddy researched the serial number and we determined this bike was actually built by Ben Serotta himself.
I have it built up with Campy 10-speed stuff (check out the cranks and long cage rear derailleur – they’re unicorns), 700×30 tires, H Plus Son rims, and a free brooks leather saddle.
The first picture is how it was when I bought it, and the pictures progress through my restoration process.
