I've got a handful of old parts, and am planning to give some that I don't need away to the local co-op. I'm just curious about the design of this stem. I like the polished finish, and the teardrop-crossection of the horizontal part, it's neat. But I'd imagine that this design, which rather than using a wedge, forces the end to expand, is reliable? It seems that repeated use would probably weaken and break the aluminum, no?
