So I just started riding. I have about 60 miles into this new hobby and I’m wondering if I’m too slow on my climbs to start making MTB friends lol. I took me about 1hr20min to climb 1,400ft over 5 miles on this ride. I just don’t want to be an anchor slowing everyone else down if I start meeting people on the trail head or joining a local group. What do you think?

No, thats pretty decent
no. ask the local groups if they have no drop rides
You could be my friend if you want to move to Oregon.
Never a bad time to make friends. You can always say forward you are slow so others respect that. Usually people will go their tempo and wait somewhere. It’s basically harder for me to go comofrtable tempo like this for me because I’m trying to hold onto them and I get tired quicker.
Bike looks sick! For the climbing you will get a lot faster when getting fitter. So if you ride regularly you will be fine!
No, that’s decent. By the way, I live and ride in the same area. How did that bike handle all the chunkiness on Regional Trail? Just curious.
I ride with literal Olympians, they’re at *least* twice as fast as me – it’s fine 🙂
Depending on the trail they just do more laps, or go to the top of a climb then back to me then repeat till we’re all there, or just simply wait.
If they’re walking next to you, yes
Better than average, unless you’re planning to go riding with XC/Gravel bros.
Never.
Local bike shop, or Cycling/MTB club probably has all skill levels no drop group rides. Check social media.
