Dijon has a population of roughly 160,000 and is located 193 miles southeast of Paris, 118 miles northwest of Geneva, and 118 miles north of Lyon (so it has a great central location for sightseeing in the region). The city is not to big to just walk around exploring the beautiful and sometimes historic streets. I read that the city was not badly damaged in WW2, so a lot of the historic buildings, including many of the half-timbered homes, were left untouched. We stumbled upon the Sadi Carnot place de la republique while exploring the city and the memorial fountain there was amazing. My favorite to do was the Museum of Fine Arts at the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. The museum is free of charge and the items on display, especially the three tombs of the Kings of Burgundy, are amazing. While doing research for the video, I learned some interesting facts about the Church of Our Lady (1240). The church definitely has a unique appearance with multiple gargoyles on the western face of the structure but soon after the church was completed in the year 1240, a man was standing outside the church about to be married when a stone figure became detached and fell on him (killing him). His colleagues organized the destruction of all but one of the gargoyles and this is how the church remained until an 1800’s restoration when the the gargoyles were replaced on the facade with replacement gargoyles (sad story). The church also features a bell striking automaton brought from Kortrijk, Belgium after the looting of the town by Philip the Bold’s army in 1382. The Well of Moses is a really beautiful sculpture done Dutch artist Claus Sluter in 1403. The building that encloses the well was added in the 17th century to protect the sculpture from the elements. The Well of Moses lies on the outskirts of Dijon and it was a half hour walk from our hotel (on a very busy street) to visit. I would only recommend visiting the well if you have a car or learn the bus schedule.

Hey Shawn and Mia! Dijon looks absolutely delightful, with so many green spaces and stunning historic buildings. I love seeing pedestrian areas in towns as well. It just has everything, even great street art. A great tour, thank you.
Thanks for showing us this beautiful city, great video 👍👍have a wonderful weekend
This is epic, Bravo!
Dijon seems to be a real gem and your video really impressed me! It's fascinating how, despite its historical importance, the city was not affected by the destruction of WWII and so many wonderful old buildings, such as the half-timbered houses, have been preserved. I was particularly intrigued by the story of the Notre-Dame church and the tragic story of the destroyed gargoyles. It's fascinating to know how such stories have been passed down through the centuries. The Museum of Fine Arts in the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy also sounds incredible – the tombs of the Kings of Burgundy must be really impressive. And the "Fountain of Moses" is an impressive sculpture! It's a real shame that the church has such a sad history with the gargoyles, but it's nice to see that the fountain is still protected. Your video has definitely piqued my curiosity and I hope to travel there myself soon to experience all these unique sights.
