I appreciate everyone who shared their opinions on a "do-it-all-ish" tire, but it spun me down a rabbit hole.

Instead of buying only tires that could maybe do a bit of everything, would it be better to get a second wheelset? I don't like 29" so it would either be 27.5, or another 26".

I can go new aluminum 27.5+ with Hope pro4

OR

I found a take-off set of Whiskey carbon 26"

BOTH would be around $800.

What would you go with?

I'm not a 'serious biker' as I Just like to have fun, explore, with some occasional dad-mode single track, so this all seems like overkill already. Maybe sticking with what I've got and just ride is the answer?

  1. Curious why you say you don’t like 29″, the tires on my 29″ wheelset for my Wednesday are are same diameter as the 26″ fat tires.

In my opinion 27.5+ is not much of difference to a 26×4.0”. I love my Wednesday with 29+ wheels though.
