I did a substantial conversion of the [first bike I ever owned](https://imgur.com/gallery/bridgestone-early-history-4WuQc8T), the Bridgestone MB-3 that got me into biking, into a 650B gravel bike. [More pictures here](https://imgur.com/gallery/bridgestone-mb-3-conversion-nvrVf2j), showing the frame modifications, which were done by Silva Cycles in Campbell, CA. He is the guy to go to for this sort of thing. Note the design of the fork tabs, and how they distribute forces across a distance that goes a ways up the fork. The shifters are 6500-series 9 speed Ultegra from the late nineties, now on their third bike. Handlebars are Redshift Kitchen Sink, no loop, low flair. Wheels are Hunt 650B, with Terravail 47mm tires. Crankset is the Dixna La with 42T and 28T chainrings. Cassette is 11-38. Brakes are TRP Spyre. The Hite-Rite I found new old stock on Ebay. And while I love it for a weird steampunk build, I can see why it was superceded by modern droppers, and I probably won’t keep it on forever. Same with the seat; while the Selle Turbo hits that late 80s/early nineties vibe, it’s hard on my ass, so will be replaced with my usual WTB saddle. Which is definitely less stylish. Anyway this is a ton of fun to ride, it’s quite the fire road ripper now.

How does that spring seat post work? Is the seat post loose and free to move up and down?
