I'm about to receive my pair of Bont Riot MTB, and I recently came across some post in our local community about an issue they had with their pair. Apparently, the part where the cleats are attached got worn out (see attached photos). I really want to try Bont since they have a great fit for Asian feet.

My question is, how does this happen? And how can I prevent it from happening to my pair?

What are you concerned about, the indentation in the cleat plate area or the wear of the sole lugs?

You can’t do anything about either one. You can minimize the indentation on the cleat plate area by tightening the bolts to the right torque setting. Also, this indentation does not affect the functionality of the shoe, it may even be designed to be that way.

The wear on the lugs is just normal wear and tear. Some companies offer lug replacements, essentially little rubber pieces that you buy and replace the ones that work out. Not sure if you can get these for the Bont Riot MTB, I know they used to offer the heel lugs for the Riot+.

Great choice in shoes by the way. I have Bont shoes. Those, and Lake, are the only shoes I would ever buy again.
