Peterborough has been voted amongst the Worst Places to live in the UK for many years now, this ancient cathedral city holds some of the highest crime statistics for any UK city. As we explored the city and residential areas of Peterborough including the notorious ‘NO-GO’ Zone and ‘Red Light’ area of Peterborough – Lincoln road, by day and night. I was Shocked to see so many abandoned places, Homelessness, Crime and Poverty on the streets of this UK City. #britain #uk #poverty #crime #england #reallife #Peterborough #nogozone #onthestreet #depression #homeless #abandonedplaces

Peterborough has been rocked by negative headlines for years, I headed to Peterborough to find out for myself whether the bleak reputation portrayed by the media was warranted… What I found truly shocked me, the crime rates where some of the highest in the UK. One area of Peterborough that I visited (Millfield Area) had 524 street level crimes (reported) last month! 206 of those were violent crimes…This notorious area of the UK is often labelled a NO-GO Zone by locals and journalists alike. I headed to this notorious crime ridden, red light district at night to gain a full understanding of how the people of Peterborough feel living in the Worst Place to live in the UK.

A quick google search of the Millfield area & Lincoln road in Peterborough will overwhelm you with negative headlines! The amount of crime, poverty and deprivation to be found in this small corner of the City is shocking. Peterborough City Centre is filled with beautiful medieval buildings however once you enter the outer areas of Peterborough the feeling quickly changes.

  1. I used to live there for a couple of years. It’s bad. The street you were walking – groups of 6 (man/kids) just randomly stand outside the off license shops like hookers in Dam. No one respects the street signs and everybody just acts like in a zoo. Istanbul grill is the bomb though so you kinda get used to it. Never had a problem and I was always on my own.

  2. Im from Peterborough, im now living back here. Yes , it's a crap hole, full of immigrants, theres still some really beautiful people here. Lot of lost souls too .

  3. It all depends on where you live in Peterborough. I live there and it’s ok in my area but it does have shit areas. The council has no money and nobody shops on the high street anymore.
Unfortunately even cities like Cambridge and Oxford have poor areas it just seems that Peterborough has a few more 😢

  4. My family moved from Yorkshire to Orton in Peterborough in 1979. I lived there (orton, bretton, welland, dogsthorpe, millfield and Town Centre) until 2005, nearly 30 years. Growing up in the 80s and 90s was an absolute joy. It was a wonderful place. I still have friends and family that live across the city, and I've visited many times since 2005. Take it as you will, but Peterborough now is an absolute shit hole, and it is a DIRECT consequence of mass uncontrolled immigration and I lived there when it started. I rarely go back nowadays, and the last time I visited the city centre, about 5 years ago, I actually felt like I was in a foreign country and not a nice one at that. Peterborough – What a slum.

  5. I've lived in Peterborough since 2014. It's never been great but we need to leave soon because my daughter is getting to the age where she wants to go out and socialise and the City simply doesn't feel safe. Walking through the city centre the most common sight is groups of men smoking, loitering and watching and having discussions in foreign languages. Hundreds of takeaways that never have any customers… You just end up assuming they're a front for crime syndicates.

  6. Andrew Neilson, Director of Campaigns at the Howard League for Penal Reform, said: “This report on Peterborough reveals how people in prison are being denied the support they need to move on from crime. It also shows how problems in jails spill out into the towns and cities around them.

  7. Most of this is BS. There are no “no go” areas in Peterborough. It’s a bit rough here and there, pretty much like anywhere. Immigrant trouble tends to be between one immigrant and another. They bring their own problems with them.

  8. My late Mum was born in Alma Road which is just off Lincoln Road in 1929 and I used to go down on holiday back in the 60s and 70s. Loved the place and there was never any hint of violence or trouble of any kind. Just goes to show how a place can go to ruin if drug addicts take over.

  9. I've just come back (to Germany) from a week-long stay in Peterborough. I am honestly baffled by these negative comments about it. I thought it was ok, and I didn't feel unsafe in the residential area where I was (Broad Close), even when walking around after dark with my female friends. Honestly, I felt more unsafe at King's Cross station and on the Tube's Piccadilly Line through London. That said, I don't live in the UK, and my friends in Peterborough are hoping to get out as soon as possible. So I guess that says something … 🙁

  10. Lived there in 1968-1971 … Angus Court. It was beautiful back then. We kids would walk to downtown, go to the swimming pool, theatre, shopping, and carnivals. It's all changed for the worse unfortunately. Very sad.

  11. Get a grip 😂 absolute fannies!!! I am from Peterborough, Millfield is a small area of the city and there are so many other nice areas you could have visited. I would walk round Millfield if I needed too… Maybe you guys need to put your big pants on – didn’t see anything in your footage that made me feel palpable 😂

  12. I used to work there for 5 years back in late 90,'s traveled daily tho, the 30 odd miles each way. I would never have moved, as full of traveler's and immigrants then, sent to live as part of Tony bloody Blairs Labour's so called master plan of social engineering in the community intent on sticking mixed communities together, in relative confined space. Well what is there left to say, other than the country is a shambles because of a ridiculous political ideal that's shoved onto communities without any consideration of the consequences. Broken Britain and shameless Starmer wants to do it all over again, now Labour are back in power. We need REFORM now, Our great grandparents & grandparents that fought in WW1 & WW2 fought for nothing if we allow this madness of immigration to continue.

  13. I'm from the next area, westwood/ravensthorpe. Definitely stay away from Milfield at night, especially the underpasses, isn't worth it. If you know the history. Like I say, I grew up near by and I'm 41 now. People underestimate pboro.

  14. I live here, its a shit whole, unless you can get out to castor etc

Its over run by complete and utter cooountbags

Lincoln road is an absolute nightmare
