I commute about 7 miles daily on a beat up 20 dollar Schwinn I picked up from marketplace. Last weekend I had some free time and the weather was good so I tried my hand at a 100 miles. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, though I was on a relatively flat bike trail the whole time. I don’t know if commuting helped me “train”, but id love other commuters’ input!

Awesome distance on that bike! I had that same frame, once upon a time a lifetime ago. It took a beating and kept on going. It’s the one bike I regret letting go from my possession.
I’m riding my father in laws old High Plains today with a studded front tire. Frame feels so smooth, I love it.
