I got it for 60$ i put 70$ in it so far new tires new stem new handlebars new rear wheel it has brand new shimano xt back cassete and derailleuer and chain
I have the same frame. It’s seen over two decades of abuse and still going strong. I’d say go for it.

If it’s already got new drive train parts I’d keep it but if you want to go single speed sell off the parts to get some money back toward it

I wouldn’t. Doesn’t have horizontal rear drop outs.

I’d look for a frame with horizontal drop outs but with a tensioner this could be a really fun single speed.

You can polish it all ya want, the thing is still gonna be trash.

Yeah, it’s a good candidate. Chain tensioner and a cassette spacer is probably the easiest thing, should be about $40 plus the rings. You can also make it a “stick shift” with the original cassette + tensioner — where you can get off the bike and lift the chain with a stick. It’s a 1×8… eventually.
