This is a Triban RC520. These are newly installed (1 month old) jagwire cables and housing. From using it since past week, I noticed the rear brake is spongy.
I confirmed it was not due to anywhere related to the brake caliper, brake pads or rotors. I tested this by locking the TRP HYRD lever, this means the caliper lever cannot be pulled or engaged. This is mainly used for adjusting slack in the cables. But even if the caliper is locked, there is still the spongy feeling in the brakes. Confirming it was due to the cable/housing setup.
The only thing that I can point out as different in the housing and cables is this housing on the picture. It seems to be too long that theres an akwardly sharp turn.
From pulling the STI, It also moves a bit when I try to pull it hard.
I have also removed the cables, wiped them to clean them off and added singer oil to hopefully improve it. And turned out still spongy.
Is this housing the culprit? Does it need to be shorter to be more snug in the frame? Thanks
