Today we explore the region around Sorrento in the Naples region of Italy. We start out at the La Medusa Hotel in Castellamare di Stabia and first traverse this industrious city until we reach the Gulf of Naples. Here, we are provided with occasional glimpses of the cliffs of Sorrento as we continue along the coastal road. For a good period, we pass through villages and navigate the busy traffic leading to the tourist mecca of Sorrento. On the far side of Sorrento, spaces open and vistas emerge. The sun-bathed island of Capri can be seen from the road that winds up towards the tip of the Sorrento peninsula. We pass through Massa Lubrense and Termini before we turn back eastwards. A long downhill ride gets us back to Sorrento from where we once again follow the coastal road with views of the distant Naples and the volcanic Mount Vesuvius. Our ride ends at the starting point.
