Usually when I find secret trails there’s absolutely no one there. I keep visiting the trail for a few weeks/ months and after that I meet like one person who just found it as well.
It’s funny when people build trails on public land and then act like it’s their private property and nobody is allowed there. Makes me want to advertise it
I found a secret trail..some locals said weird things like , how'd you find this place?, He's on an e-bike. Don't harass the kids down there, and we don't want e-bikes following us. That guy always urinates on the sidewalk hes a legendary bum. Santa cruz ca. Really just makes u look like bully kooks .
Unfortunately there’s no trees where I build (semi-illegal) trails, so anyone can find them. But the people who hike near them could not care less, so I’m fine.
Oh I didn't know people could just own public woods. In the case lemme just leave and make a Facebook group telling every mountain biker in a 50 miles radius about this spot. That should leave it reeeeeally secret for you bud.
In my town we all knew the secret spots, we all respect each other as riders and never exclude anyone from riding them! But here in the UK if we see a guy on a good bike we will tell them, shitty bike riders dont get told but we wont kick them off as thats just rude and its an illegal trails you have ZERO right to tell someone to leave

I wish municipalities weren't so liability shy that when they build public trails they neuter any fun features off them and make them as boring as possible, thus forcing all us gnar chasers to seek out or build pirate trails. Every public trail system should have optional expert features that are clearly marked but every time I've been on a public dig day for a trail, builing any kind of jump pr features gets shut down so quick.
