Its been decades since I’ve been on a track, my most recent experience on bikes includes mt. biking off and on for the last 15 years or so. So riding isn’t completely foreign to me, and I preferred more aggressive trails to the more “XC” rated trails.
I’m planning on visiting my local track (Bellflower BMX, SoCal) this evening to get the juices flowing and learn more about the program. Right now I’m bike less, and was starting to research bikes. Pretty sure I want a 24″ cruiser. I’ve found a few local to me via online marketplaces and was wondering if anyone had input on these two bikes.
**Free Agent Ambush (used).** The guy is asking $350, looks to be in good shape, a few knicks here and there, but doesn’t look abused. Hell, the thing has a bell on it, the reflectors are still on it as well as a light on the seat post. He lives about 20 minutes away, so I will be able to throw a leg over it and test ride it.
**RedLine MX 24 (new). $299 on their site.** It looks like RedLine is clearing these out?I haven’t looked over the geometry of either bike.
Seems like the logical thing is to buy the cheaper, brand new bike, but the Free Agent could be a great deal considering they retail for $579. My plan is to practice/race at the track once a week. As well as pedal around the neighborhood to build up my endurance and what not. Any thoughts on these two bikes?
