Friend snapped his front gear cable and couldn't get the new one in… No worries I've got an internal kit, fiddly job but it can be done.
Fast forward to much swearing and tipping the bike up every which way on the frame and this was my solution to a job that I've never not been able to do before with the kit.
I used a thick piece of thread, some play dough and my hoover to get the damn gear cable back in to the cable gland where it's supposed to be!
… Annnnnnnd relax!

It’s not stupid if it works.
has proper tool but cannot use it and uses more silly, excessive, time-wasting method. well done my friend.
Dental floss and a vacuum gets mentioned a lot for internal routing, so you’re not alone with this method!
If you were still struggling with it I’m guessing we would have never known… congrats
whatever gets this thankless /hopeless task done is a winner!
I’m impressed with your work. Results are what matters.
That said, internal bicycle cabling is one of the stupidest innovations in history.
