Six members of Germany’s national track cycling team were injured on Monday (January 27) in a road accident on the Spanish island of Mallorca. An 89-year-old driver collided head-on with the cyclists during a training ride near Palma de Mallorca, according to the German Cycling Federation.
The injured athletes — Benjamin Boos, Tobias Buck-Gramcko, Bruno Kessler, Moritz Augenstein, Louis Gentzik, and Max-David Briesewere — suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including fractures, and were hospitalized. National coach Lucas Schadlich, who was following the group by car, witnessed the incident.
