Police have released shocking dash cam footage showing Britain’s most hapless drivers as they dangerously overtake and go the wrong way down a one way street.
Thousands of videos exposing dangerous driving have been released by officers in Devon and Cornwall.
It comes after Operation Snap was launched to allow members of the public to file a secure online report and submit accompanying digital footage showing potential traffic offences.
The police operation has received more than 20,600 pieces of video footage submitted by witnesses in five years – including several near-misses with pedestrians and cyclists.
More than 6,000 of these overall submissions were reported in 2024 alone, as several drivers have been hit with bans, fines and points on their licence.
One clip captured from a cycle cam shows a van failing to give way to a cyclist at a junction in Exeter, forcing the cyclist onto the pavement outside a pub with customers sat outside drinking.
The driver received a six-month disqualification and had to pay £391 in a fine and associated costs.
Adrian Leisk, Devon & Cornwall Police’s Head of Road Safety and chair of the Vision Zero South West enforcement group said: ‘Police officers cannot be everywhere, so the public’s help is vital when it comes to keeping our roads safe.
