An update since the last post, ~9 months ago. Still touring Lampang mostly, although I have carried the bike on a flight to Mae Hong Son last month. Almost finished visiting all the wats (temples) in Lampang. Most of the remaining ones are in the mountains. I don't have the stamina to bike to all of those, unfortunately.
I can't recommend Lampang enough. Gentle rolling hills. Safe roads with plenty of shoulder. Interesting villages. Plenty of climbing for those who enjoy it. I often joke that Lampang is like Chiang Mai, but without all the pesky foreigners. October to February is the sweet spot. The rains have started to fade, and the smog from the field burning is not yet abysmal.
