Preston in Lancashire is famous for a lot of things. Once I started digging I couldn’t believe just how many interesting things Preston is responsible for!

In this video we look at a brand new bit of cycling infrastructure, the first MOTORWAY in the UK, the first ever KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken in the UK, the highest spire of any Parish Church in England along with some other exciting things too. Fred Dibnah even makes a brief appearance!!!!

Don’t forget to let me know what you think in the comments section too.

If you enjoy the video please give it a thumbs up and if you haven’t already then please subscribe to the channel.

Thanks for watching!

  1. There is a truckers eye. I used to work in a cabin company driving all over the UK setting them up. I used a van. We had lorry drivers who at first gave me instructions how to get there. Quickly I learned to ignore them as the view from a lorry was different and from much higher viewpoint. So their instructions were not much use to me.

  2. Nice video, again, but I need to know when you are going to the centre of the universe! That's a music reference which you might get, but it's not Metallica….

  3. I travel through Preston often and yet to see more than two cyclists using the green oversized cycle lanes at any one time, if ever there was ever a waste of money they are.

  4. That was the best video I've seen of yours. Very interesting as, as I was watching I had a thought about Preston North End FC. I didn't think they were actually from Preston, but the question occurred to me, and blow me down, if you didn't at that precise moment, mention them! I have never to my knowledge been to Preston, but I have known about the place, as long as I can remember, (I'm now 70 myself) and coincidentally have friends whose surname is Preston! The simple walk down the High Street, and the general locale, was really nice to see. I had a friend years ago whose daughter was at Uni in Preston, and she loved the area, so much that when she finished her uni course, she decided to buy a house in the city, and I think to this day she lives there! If you know or rather can think of other interesting places you go on your travels, could you (time dependant) do a little walk round like this? Thanks for what you have done here and as a recent sub, I'd like to thank you for the other videos you have done. I like your take on things, especially those funny sights you get to see and question their use etc.
