  1. Yet again you are following my life. The south London section, especially the Dulwich area where I taught at Alleyn's. Good to see anywhere near the south circular becoming cycling friendly.

  2. The problem I see in Edinburgh at the moment is al these people who have bought bikes in the name of exercising during pandemic is that they have no road awareness no bike handling skills and no knowledge of the Highway Code , before you all go mad I’ve been cycling all my life and at the wrong side of 50 I do think people need to take some training before they go on the road here in Edinburgh they even take bus drivers out on bikes to help give them the perspective of the cyclist however if the cyclist hasn’t got a clue ?

  3. Compared to pre-pandemic, I'd say there are about 4X more people out on the countryside roads outside of town in my neck of the woods, central Pennsylvania.

  4. Interesting video, great to see cycling climbing the transport agenda with government & the wider population. It would be better still if the cycling campaigner had been wearing a helmet to further the safety message.

  5. *Selected boroughs only, subject to budgetary restrictions and local political control. See on road for details.

(Although TBH even some of the more reticent boroughs have definitely moved on in the past year or two)

  6. We need properly seperated cycle lanes with a raised cerb dedicated to cycles only then everyone will feel safe and bike usage will become a way life like in Holland and Denmark.

  7. All this is great but I wonder do any of you drive, and if so where because if everywhere is becoming cycle only then how will people travel those long distances.

Also why are motorcycles considered the same as cars, when the new cycling stuff started going in a lot of motorcyclists were injured or killed due to the changes, it was only when the police relaxed the situation for motorcyclists that we saw the changes have a real effect.

So my point is cyclists and motorcyclists should have no problem being on the same roads, but motorcyclists tend to be shoved in with cars, simply because they have a motor.

    Even electric motorcycles.

And Escooters don't even get a mention, but are equally good for the environment.

In fact there are a lot more than just cycles around now, and they all are good for the environment, but oddly enough only cycling seems to be promoted, why is that.

At one time even Ebikes were looked down on by cyclists, of course if you are fit and young then a normal bike is fine, but if you are not fit and young then an Escooter might be better for you if you have leg problems or an Ebike even an EUC.

So though I'm in favour of many of the changes the thinking is far too narrow minded and is in need of a bit of a rethink as to what is allowed to pass through these barriers, because as I said motorcycles and cycles don't normally have a problem sharing the same road.

If you compare how many cyclists have been killed by motorcycles it's not even a statistic probably non existent, the problems are cars and trucks and vans.

Not even a thought for roller skaters.

We need joined up thinking not outdated hijack the roads thinking, we want people out of their cars and on two wheels even if that means motorcycles and Escooters or even one wheel on an EUC.

  8. Good campaign. But I find itvdisappointing that the representative on London Cycling Campaign is not wearing a helmet. Presumably because he thinks its cooler not to, or forgot it. Either way, bad exmple for beginner cyclists

  9. Great video. My parents place in the country has turned into a rat run after the introduction of a roundabout to a main road near by (even had their front lawn ripped up by the increased traffic and narrowish road), people now afraid to walk along it and cycle – they’re in a battle with the authorities who refuse to help until someone gets hit (their words more or less), those traffic calming measures have given me some food for thought to help them in that battle. Personally I live in London, but being from the country Londons got a long way to go for me to feel safe cycling in large parts of it, but it is going in the right direction, and physical barriers rather than painted lines is just a massive step forward.

  10. I cycle through Harrow, Ealing and Brent boroughs where new cycle lanes have popped up. While this is a good thing, there’s plenty of people who don’t like this, but what can you do

  11. If you didn't look like cyclists and just people on bikes you might appeal to more people.
You both look like you're in some sort of race.

  12. As someone who cycles from just inside the M25 (High Barnet/ Colindale) into central London (Aldgate/ White Chapel/ Mile End) I would say that cycling inside the inner circular is great and very enjoyable. Cycling between the inner circular and north circular is good for the most part (i.e. you feel safe). However, cycling in the region of north London outside the north circular is comparatively awful -and frequently I do not feel safe. I find that I have to be careful not to cycle too quickly in this outer region of London so as to get into more central areas of London – where I feel considerably safer – because the added speed and rushing mentality increase the danger I pose to others as well as myself. The worst place I have ever cycled is Watford, closely followed by Colindale. It is the peripheral boroughs that need to make the biggest changes (new infrastructure) – I think we are a long, long way from any of the necessary construction actually happening.

  13. No wonder cycling in London is so awful when you've got people like this young Tory supporting what the goverment are doing – allowing infrastructure to be ripped out in some areas

  14. I wonder what the status of cycling in London is today, did people go back to their old habits and used their cars again or has cycling gained traction?
