  1. Currently looking into buying this bike frame (klein quantum) and wanted to ask if this frame damage is a deal breaker for you or is it ‘just paint’ thats not a problem at all.
    Ty!

i’d need a closer look. the non drive side looks very much like “just paint and can be painted over. the drive side i’m not so sure. It wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me, but a reason for a hefty discount.

  3. Is it pitted, or just exposed surface? If just exposed surface, I don’t see it as a potential point of failure, that won’t tear.

You will want to touch it up in that spot if it’s steel, otherwise this is basically just cosmetic

  5. Seems that a bike carrier for a car is the reason. If the down tube isn’t out of shape it’s not a problem

  6. I would ride that, but buy it only with a hefty discount. Then cover it with nail polish and never think about it ever again.

  7. A tip I learned from someone assuming this is carbon – is if you wipe down the “scratch” with a towel and if nothing catches you’re good, means the carbon underneath is still laminated

  8. They’re just rubbing marks on the paint. The frame seems to be made of aluminum, so if it’s not warped there’s nothing to worry about.

This kind of mark are very common with external cables rubbing against the frame.
