I am looking to find a bike with a budget of GBP 1000. Since I am a novice, I am looking for a comfort oriented riding position. Use case is for general fitness, with rides lasting 20-50km, probably more in the future

Based on available offers, I have shortlisted the following models:
1. Cannondale Synapse 2 (https://www.cannondale.com/en-gb/bikes/road/endurance/synapse/synapse-2)
2. Merida Scultura Endurance 300 (https://www.merida-bikes.com/en-gb/bike/3113/scultura-endurance-300)

Reasons for considering these:
1. Tiagra groupset being the best I can afford in my budget
2. I have seen reviews repeatedly suggest hydraulic brakes over mechanical/rim
3. Endurance geometry

Both of these bikes come at a similar price range, with tiagra groupsets and hydraulic brakes. I am unable to decide between these models. Also, trying them is out of option as they aren't available where I live and I'll have to buy them online. Is any one of them a better choice (due to better components, etc.) compared to the other?

I am open to choices outside of these two, please suggest if I am missing to consider any other better equipped models in my budget. Used bikes are not an option due to cycle2work scheme.
